“No Mas”. “No More”. These Safetrans V20R signals no longer guard the approach to Flatonia. But on a warm April 2020 day they gave the high green to UP 2653.

In 1854 Matias Novak built his house in what was called Mulberry. A dvout Catholic, Mass was celebrated in his home. The town grew a little and in 1858 was named Praha – Czech for Mother Prague. The town began a slow decline, when, in 1873 the SP built its track one mile north of the town. That, and establishment of the new town of Flatonia sealed its fate. oday, little remains of the town itself, except the spectacular Gothic Revival St Mary’s Church of the Assumption, completed in 1892. Its spire can be easily seen from US90.
